DIY cheap spray booth

I have now "perfected" my monstrosity of a spray booth! All-in-all, this set up has cost me a total of £33, which is not bad considering a pro spray booth will cost you upwards of £75. This booth works well for both spray-can and airbrush modellers. It looks terrible, but hell it works.

What you will need:

Yes, you are seeing this. Its a 2-tier portable greenhouse with a PVC cover. All you will need of course is the top tier. If your going to get one, make sure the legs separate out instead of being 4, long sticks otherwise you'll have to get out your trust hacksaw and cut 'em shorter.

On the left: a common-old bathroom extractor fan. This one is a timed model so took some awesome amateur electrical wiring skills to get working. Of course if your going to wire something, seek advice from a qualified sparky and for the love of Christmas, read the instructions. Left-top, ducting. 4 inch diameter, 3 meters long. On the right: spray booth paint filter. All from ebay.

How to build one:

Easy! Build your greenhouse, the top tier only of course, cut the front PVC off it, seal all around the front using some trusty old duct-tape, fold underneath any excess PVC to form a seal all around.

Looks ridiculous! but it works... :) Next.. cut a small slit in the back, long enough to squeeze in the ass end of your extractor fan - be sure to of course make sure the power cable is OUTSIDE of the spray booth. Attach your ducting to the rear, get yourself of duct tape and seal that mother.

Next, get your paint filter, and stick it over the front grill of the extractor fan. This will stop your fan from caking up with paint, and also reduce the risk of inadvertent creation of a flame-throwing spray booth. Awesome.

Your spray booth is complete! and just big enough for working on ya gunpla. Hope you found this handy.
